Let's Learn About Citrine!

Posted on

Happy birthday to all you lovely people born in November! Today we are going to discuss some interesting facts about the November birthstone, Citrine.

Citrine is known for its beautiful deep yellow color. The name itself comes from the French word “citrin,” which means lemon! This stone ranges in color from pale yellow to a deep amber. Citrine gets its color from trace amounts of iron in quartz crystals. The largest mine of Citrine is in Brazil, however there are smaller mines all over the world.
Citrine has been around since the Romans, who are considered the first to bring the stone into fashion. Throughout the years it would be used by many different nations. The Greeks carved designs into them, the Egyptians used them as talismans, and the Chinese coined it as “The Stone of Success.” It’s no wonder this beautiful yellow stone became so popular!
Citrine is said to bring calmness, new beginnings, and strength to those who wear it. Luckily it is one of the more affordable gemstones. Citrine is also a 7 on Mohs Scale of Hardness, making it a fantastic choice for everyday wear.
This beautiful gemstone is is not only the birthstone for November, but it is also the symbol for the 13th wedding anniversary! We hope that Citrine will be a lovely option for whatever occasion you are celebrating! As always, the links to our beautiful pieces in the photos will be below. Happy November!
